Pointers to consider before buying mobile phones

Hi guys, in this blog I will discuss some of the pointers you should look at when you are buying a new smartphone. These days a lot of new smartphones keep launching. It can be a little confusing on how to choose a smartphone but here I will be giving you some basic pointers to look at when you are buying a new smartphone. So let’s start and make it the first and last blog you read about your smartphone decision query.

Features to look for while buying smartphones are as follows:-

  1.  Processors

The good thing is that now in this technology era if you buy any smartphone considering general instance the processors are so good that it’s not going to be very lagging or something which causes the User Interface to hang up like more than 4 seconds when you are using any small apps like Twitter or something else so that is a good thing. But when you are buying a smartphone even within a budget range.
You might observe that nowadays also even some vendors and lower-end vendors offer a chipset of lower power at a cheap price because of which the user faces some lagging issues after some period of usage as apps are getting updated to the new software which in all leaves your processors to outdated versions.

So as per the present market trend of mobiles, it is more preferred not to go for snapdragon for low budget phones(8,000INR)  instead use the Helio multi-core chipset
Refer here for more knowledge on Snapdragon mobile platform chipset. Whereas for Mid Range Budget go for at least Snapdragon 660 and for gaming stuff purposes option for Snapdragon 730GMedia Tek Helio P90.
If you are taking a Samsung mid-range smartphone which is also very popular go for nothing below then this processor Exynos 9611. I hope you guys understand I am not telling you to option for the best processor only or to buy the moderate one but examine your needs accordingly and choose the right one which fits you.
  1. Internal Storage Space/Storage Space

Storage of the phone means data holding capacity of the cell phone. Nowadays minimum internal storage of 32Gb is should be there for budget-oriented smartphones. But If you are planning to store smartphone for a longer period then go for internal storage of 128gb because of Whatsapp and heavy games which are stored only in phone internal storage. If I were you I would go for the internal storage space of 64Gb with MicroSD card slot available.
And also don’t compromise in terms of speed required to store data because in today’s world when android phones come with a huge 42 and 64 Megapixels camera. It should not lag while storing or opening any photo/file while in use. So as per present development make sure your phone has at least Universal Flash Storage (UFS) of 2.1 even in mid-range ones.
  1. Random Access Memory(RAM)

What is RAM? As every generation of android Smartphones is getting advanced. Their data is getting huge day-by-day and believe me it would not be possible for your mobile phone to work well under less ram.

So as per the present trend, it is better to have 4gbRAM  also for low budget and mid-range smartphones. As 2gbRAM is very less and will surely make your cell phone hang a lot. For better performance, you should always go high RAM like 6gb or more if possible. Still, confused about Random Access Memory(RAM) topic refer here you can know what is the right RAM for you?

  1. Operating system(OS)/Version of android

I am hoping you guys know What android operating system is?. So instead of talking about the basics of the system I will stick to the point and try to make my article as short as possible. For those who don’t know let me define its function in the mobile platform
“ The OS or mobile android version whose role is to manage the hardware and software resources of the cell phone and make users do a lot of tasks easily in day-to-day life. Every OS version mostly in mid-range market trend works fine so you no need to think too much for this aspect until your need is like not a basic user's one.
We have generally two cycles of update available for android phones from the date of purchase if you want more upgrades then switch for iPhones

Never ever fall into the salesperson advice and pay your extra penny to have a phone with the latest android operating system or latest version of android because it is the job of the salesperson to fool you into buying costly gadgets so that they get their huge pockets filled with commissions. Instead, go for any mid-range OS version because that is more than enough believe me that will work excellent for your daily needs.

  1. Screen Size

Now let us now move to the important thing which is the screen section. I will not talk about screen sizes because these days we are simply not getting those compact screen sizes phones so we are hoping anywhere above 6inches. The Reason is as the aspect ratio has changed of cell phones where we used to have thick buzzes at top and bottom which have been replaced by increasing the screen size and providing good user experience.

Decent screen sizes are 6inches at the smaller end and 6.7inches screen is considered as a large screen. The drawback of larger screens is that we don't get a good body to screen ratio which makes it difficult to handle easily. Still confused about screen sizing stuff, know what is the right screen size for you.
  1. Screen Technology and Display

The technology has advanced a lot but some things you have to take care while purchasing a smartphone which are:
Brightness Levels: Even in the ultra low budget range don't buy smartphones which are giving you Thin-film-transistor(T.F.T) LCD display because viewing angles are so bad if you look straight it looks nice but if you tilt it fades away. But the good thing is most of the vendors provides  IPS LCD Screen which is having full HD display What is Full High-definition(HD) display ?. The good thing with IPS LCD Screen is that the viewing angles and colours reproduction are better.

When it comes to brightness levels which are measured in nits(In simple words it is a measure of how much light the screen is sending to your eyes within a given area is called as nits) it is somewhat as a drawback. Which is in general 400, 500 and 550 nits as the nits get higher the more money increases of the mobile phone here the only advantage of having high nits is that it gives good brightness levels even in direct sunlight.
Another thing that people often forget to look at while buying a smartphone is How low cellphones brightness levels can go? I hope you guys know why you need low brightness!. Many cell phones cannot go low even in brightness which will cause trouble if you use your cell beside your loved ones and it is also bad for the eyes too.
Amoled Screens Amoled is just a screen display technology which provides good contrast and colour effects. Mostly used by Samsung and many budget vendors too. In this Beware of screens for mid+low budget range phones. Because in that range these types of screens produce low colour accuracy and many times if you tilt the phone you will see a colour shift of mostly green and pink colour on the screen which was observed in one of the Xiaomi mi models.
Amoled Screens Production

Also, I have noticed that even in high range AMOLED screen type when you lower the brightness levels to very low it will start to flicker which causes you headaches if you use it at night. So if you see here you have to be careful while choosing these screens I hope you guys know what you should check for in the screen section now.

     7.  Battery & Fast Charging Batteries

Here I would say that the mid-range cellphones actually do much better than the flagship. But ideally, if I have to talk about one battery capacity then at least 4000Mah is good. That should give usually one day usage to most typical users again if you are a heavy user going for a higher Mah battery will be a good choice. So here also on the ultra-budget end, we cannot expect fast charging features.

Before purchasing the smartphone make sure what type of watts it is supporting i.e. 15 or 18 watts or does it support Qualcomm fast charging or what is the standard which it is supporting. And if it is a higher-end smartphone then also check what type of charging it supports 25,30 or 45 watts and does supports power delivery too or not because if it does you can also charge it pretty fast with the

      8. Smartphone Cameras

Now talking about camera performance again here pixel size count is not everything. And I myself is not a firm believer of having 5 cameras at the rear/back of your cellphones and paying an extra penny for that which Cannot beat any iPhone Low outdated camera version also.

Rear Cameras: If a smartphone is having multi-cameras then there are three things which you have to look for. If it is on higher-end make sure it has optical image stabilization (A feature in cameras which reduces the blurriness/fading effects and provides high-quality pictures). It should have a good wide-angle length so that it can cover a wide range and come closer to the subject without leaving any details in the background. And a regular phone camera a telephoto lens for the good zooming feature.
And the next thing which you have to think of is image processing because two models having the same camera pixels produce different results due to this feature. So you have to take samples and compare it in terms of skin tone, colour reproduction etc parameters. Because if you just take static pictures of Buildings, scenery, paintings and stuff they will look nice as most smartphones have very good resolution these days.
Front Facing Camera: In this part, we have seen that companies like oppo and Vivo are putting a lot of effort into front cameras. So, if you are a person who takes lots of selfies than the image processing these companies have done is a lot better than Samsung high budget phones like Samsung galaxy, galaxy note and google pixel with respect to the selfie department.
  1. Headphone Jacks, Earphones, Speaker Quality, Additional Features

  2.  Well, here we have observed that many things listed in the 9th point should be based on the reviews mostly because even the same vendor producing same phones or the same seller selling the same phone these qualities differs and make sure you also check for any additional feature provided in smartphone-like fingerprint sensor and time taken by phone to unlock without fingerprint also to analyze which is faster which is better and which is in your budget.

So I hope you guys liked it if I was unable to cover any points please tell me in the comment section I would like to help you with the same. Also share it in every place possible to help others too and make fruitful from this post.
